Washington License Plates
Apportioned Truck type debuted in 1987 with PR suffix used for the original embossed series, changing to flat around 90xxxPR. The next series used RP suffix. 57208RP (Flat) 2016-02-09 Willie C, Brock, Jr.
Regular passenger and some non-passenger types are generally still embossed but specialty plates changed to all-flat starting in March 2005. That included WSU alumni (which had been embossed since their initial release in 1997), Vanpool, vanity and others. The background color scheme did not change at the time and the number font closely matched the dies used on prior embossed plates.
Vanities available on specialty types with a different Montana-style font starting in 2008. Most specialty plates were subsequently redesigned.
The letters I, O and Q are generally not used in the 3rd position on passenger plates. Washington uses the same die for the letter O and number 0.
Frank Astalosh advised that Trailer plates are available for specialty types with numbering starting at 90000.
Mike Kraft advised that Motorcycle plates are available for specialty types with numbering starting at 95000.
