Wyoming veteran and embossed plates available

Jan 3, 2010 — Wyoming armed forces veterans are now eligible for specialty plates, for a $50 surcharge over normal fees.

The plates are available to vehicle owners having completed at least one term of honorable service in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard or Merchant Marine.

Another new option—for all Wyoming motorists—is the availability of embossed plates.

When Wyoming switched to 3M Digital License Plate (flat) technology in 2001, many drivers missed the look and feel of the old plates’ raised characters.

As of January 2010, vehicle owners willing to pay a $50 fee can special-order embossed plates for standard, specialty, personalized, and University of Wyoming plates.

The embossed plates will be produced at the same prison facility in Cañon City, Colorado, which produces Colorado plates.
